{"id":69100,"date":"2016-11-23T10:57:31","date_gmt":"2016-11-23T15:57:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=69100"},"modified":"2016-11-23T13:38:45","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23T18:38:45","slug":"reza-olangian-convicted-in-arms-deal-with-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=69100","title":{"rendered":"Reza Olangian convicted in arms deal for Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reza Olangian, a US-Iranian citizen was convicted yesterday in Federal court for trying to buy surface-to-air missiles for Iran according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/u-iranian-citizen-convicted-u-trying-buy-missiles-001255812.html\">Reuters<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Olangian, who became a U.S. citizen in 1999, was arrested in Estonia in October 2012 and subsequently extradited to the United States following a sting operation orchestrated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said that in 2012, Olangian met in Ukraine with a DEA informant posing as a Russian weapons broker to arrange for the purchase of surface-to-air missiles and various military aircraft components.<\/p>\n<p>In recorded conversations and emails, Olangian described his plans to acquire the missiles and parts and smuggle them into Iran, for whose government he was purchasing them, from Afghanistan or from another neighboring country, prosecutors said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This was his second attempt to buy missiles for the Iranians.
