According to <a href=\"http:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2016\/09\/25\/us\/arnold-palmer-death\/index.html\">CNN<\/a> &#8220;With his dominance in golf and distinctive style, Palmer helped turn the sport from a country club pursuit to one that became accessible to the masses.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Of course, like most of his generation, he was a veteran. Palmer spent the Korean War years in the Coast Guard from 1950-1953.
