The State Department Now Admits It."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Something curious <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2016\/aug\/18\/state-dept-400m-iran-contingent-prisoners-release\/\"><em>happened last week<\/em><\/a>, on Thursday.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Asked by a reporter if the U.S. wouldn\u2019t have paid the money until the prisoners were released, State Department spokesman John Kirby replied, \u201cThat\u2019s correct.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hmm.\u00a0 From <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/ransom\">Merriam-Webster<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ransom<\/span>:\u00a0 a consideration paid or demanded for the release of someone or something from captivity<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Seems pretty clear to me that the US State Department has now contradicted the POTUS&#8217;s (and its own) prior public statements regarding the Iran payment.\u00a0 Above, State now plainly admits that the USA paid ransom to Iran for the return of some of our citizens.\u00a0 Previously, the &#8220;party line&#8221; was that the timing was &#8220;a coincidence&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Coincidence?&#8221;\u00a0 Yeah, right.\u00a0 The payment was ransom, plain and simple.\u00a0 Anyone with half a functional brain could see that.<\/p>\n<p>The media&#8217;s reaction to this admission has also been interesting.\u00a0 While in a rare display of responsible journalism the <u>New York Times<\/u> apparently gave this story the Page 1 treatment it deserves, some \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <del>pernicious &#8220;Progressive&#8221; propaganda purveyors<\/del>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 mainstream media outlets did not.\u00a0 The <u>Washington Post<\/u> and <u>USA Today<\/u> <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2016\/08\/19\/bias-alert-washington-post-buries-iran-ransom-story-despite-one-its-reporters-being-involved.html\">each chose to bury the story deep inside their respective Friday editions<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>But the fact that at least some of the media would try to bury this isn&#8217;t surprising, either.\u00a0 Most of the US media has been <em>de facto<\/em> cheerleaders for the political left for virtually my entire life.<\/p>\n<p>The only surprising parts of this disgusting incident are that this &#8220;most transparent administration in history&#8221; actually admitted the sordid truth here &#8211; and that at least <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">some<\/span> of the media didn&#8217;t try to hide that fact.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Something curious happened last week, on Thursday.
