Maybe."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On March 18 of this year, an E2C aircraft was making a carrier landing on the <u>USS Dwight D. Eisenhower<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>During the landing, there was a sharp \u201csnap\u201d.\u00a0 The arresting cable had broken.<\/p>\n<p>The plane did not decelerate.\u00a0 It proceeded off the end of the carrier\u2019s runway.<\/p>\n<p>Through immediate action, the plane\u2019s aircrew managed to save the aircraft.\u00a0 It descended nearly to the water \u2013 one of the crew estimates to within approximately 10 feet \u2013 but did not impact.\u00a0 They were later able to land safely.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/tech\/2016\/08\/15\/watch-navy-pilots-save-plane-after-it-falls-off-carrier.html\">has a story today concerning the incident<\/a><\/em> that gives more details.\u00a0 It\u2019s worth a read &#8211; and includes video of the incident.<\/p>\n<p>For their actions that day, three pilots on-board the aircraft \u2013 Lt. Cmdr. Thomas Browning, Lt. Cmdr. Kellen Smith, and Lt.
