Today we get <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/us\/8-year-old-boy-dies-day-after-being-named-honorary-marine-1.421877\">the sad news<\/a> that the day after his dream came true, he has passed on.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> Wyatt was honored with a formal ceremony Saturday at Camp Pendleton near San Diego, where his father serves as a drill sergeant. Video and photos of the ceremony show Wyatt dressed in fatigues and seated in his wheelchair as while being presented with a framed certificate and an official Marine Corps pin.<\/p>\n<p>Marine Corps Commandant General Robert Neller agreed to make Wyatt an honorary Marine last week in response to an online petition. The honor is bestowed on just a few people every year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/abc7.com\/news\/8-year-old-oc-boy-dies-day-after-becoming-honorary-marine\/1451553\/\">ABC7<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Wyatt Gillette suffered from Aicardi-Goutierres Syndrome Type 1-(Trex 1 mutation), a rare condition that caused him multiple medical problems, including seizures and complete kidney failure.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wyatt Gillette, the 8-year-old son of a Marine, had always dreamed of being a Marine.
