Remember Benghazi?\u00a0 You know, that little incident in North Africa that left a US Ambassador and three others dead?\u00a0 The one that the current Administration tried initially to blame on an \u201cinflammatory Internet video\u201d that nobody had ever heard of?\u00a0 The incident about which someone famously later asked, \u201cAt this point, what difference does it make?\u201d<\/p>\n
Well, the House Select Committee on Benghazi has finally released its report on Benghazi.\u00a0 And here\u2019s the \u201cmoney quote\u201d:<\/p>\n
\u201cNone of the information coming directly from the agents on the ground in Benghazi during the attacks mentioned anything about a video or a protest.\u00a0The firsthand accounts made their way to the office of the Secretary through multiple channels quickly . . . ,\u201d the report concluded.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
That\u2019s not all.\u00a0 Apparently the SECSTATE e-mailed her daughter that the attack was due to an \u201cal Quaeda-like (sic) group\u201d.\u00a0 So yeah – she knew “up front” that Benghazi wasn’t about any damn film.<\/p>\n
However, the beginning of the \u201cspin campaign\u201d regarding Benghazi started that very evening.\u00a0 A White House meeting held that day \u2013 roughly 3 hours after the attack \u2013 focused on tying the attack to the famous video blamed for it.\u00a0 Fully half (5 of 10) of the action items from that meeting referenced the video alleged later to have spurred the attack.<\/p>\n
Now that seems kinda strange to me, considering that no one on site mentioned a protest or a video in their SITREPs.\u00a0 You\u2019d think they\u2019d have mentioned something like that \u2013 if it occurred.<\/p>\n
In fact, it almost looks like they were already looking for an excuse to blame the film for something<\/span> – and Benghazi provided the excuse.\u00a0 But maybe that\u2019s just me.<\/p>\n
And yeah \u2013 the SECSTATE was at that meeting.<\/p>\n
