James Fritch, 57 of Plainfield, previously claimed to have witnessed the 1983 Marine compound bombings in Beirut that killed 241 military men and women.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t serve in Beirut,\u201d Fritch said Thursday.<\/p>\n
After the investigation into his military history was posted online and shared to numerous sites, Fritch wants to put the story to bed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
He says that he was getting death threats, but they all claim that. I don’t know anyone who would phone in death threats. You’ll also notice that in the picture above (from the Bulletin’s article), he’s wearing a polo shirt with a Special Forces patch and tab.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis (investigation) has had a major effect on me,\u201d Fritch said. \u201cRight now, I have no words for it. I really don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
