Last night I got a phone call from a widow of a soldier killed in the war against terror. I could tell that she was distraught by the tone of her voice and she told me the story of how a veteran approached her and pitched his business to her. A single mother attending school full time for her medical training would need someone to take care of her home. And she thought “Why not?” He said that he was a veteran and that he’d give her a special rate because, you know, she had already sacrificed so much. Yeah, well, his idea of helping her was to kill her lawn and take her money, a few hundred dollars. Checking around, she found another woman whose house he had gutted and left her with nothing. She also found that he had not paid his employees, mostly veterans themselves, and he had even stolen their tools. <\/p>\n

That veteran who had done so much damage, was Michael Lattea<\/a>. We’ve had him posted since 2013<\/a> following the lead of Guardian of Valor<\/a> and Military Phony<\/a> who did the hard work on him.<\/p>\n

He was actually a deployed veteran. He deployed with the 1\/148th Infantry of the Ohio National Guard. According to Wiki<\/a>;<\/p>\n

The 1-148th was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 2007\u20132008. They were mobilized in January 2008 and trained for three months at Fort Hood TX, then they were sent to Camp Arifjan Kuwait and conducted convoy security and escort operations throughout Iraq and Kuwait. They returned in December 2008.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That matches his records;<\/p>\n

He doesn’t have any of the stuff he wears on his uniform in his records – he was discharged after four years of service as a Private (E-1) – the word on the street was that he was busted for stealing from his mates while he was deployed in Kuwait.<\/p>\n

After he was discharged, he was busted back in Ohio for fraud and forgery and went to jail in 2014. <\/p>\n

According to Bulldog, he was right back at his asshattery when he got back out on the street. He has a long and storied criminal record – and that’s just the misdeeds that we know about. He’s stolen money through veteran charities that he founded, through GoFundMe tincups and through just blatant thievery.<\/p>\n
