{"id":65167,"date":"2016-04-09T09:32:41","date_gmt":"2016-04-09T13:32:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=65167"},"modified":"2022-01-23T23:31:10","modified_gmt":"2022-01-24T04:31:10","slug":"larry-hertenstein-phony-pow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=65167","title":{"rendered":"Larry Hertenstein; phony POW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Someone sent us a link to the <a href=\"http:\/\/vvaveteran.org\/36-2\/36-2_locator.html\">Vietnam Veterans of America Veteran Online &#8211; Locator<\/a> wherein someone named Larry Hertenstein, in Ray, Ohio, was trying to locate a fellow Vietnam veteran who had been a POW with him in Da Nang;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Looking for Greg Boggs. We were in a Da Nang POW camp in the winter of 1969 and escaped when a Huey flew over the camp and the Vietnamese were busy trying to shoot it down. We were in the jungle for a week until they stopped looking for us. Once we made it back, we were separated. So we checked on Hertenstein&#8217;s records. He was an M60 gunner for much of his time in Vietnam from May 1969 &#8211; March 1970 (when the 3\/26th Marines returned from Vietnam). He earned a Combat Action Ribbon for his service there.
