Today, we have a somewhat different kind of “feel good story”.\u00a0 And FWIW:\u00a0 you might want to have a tissue handy while you read this.<\/p>\n
Ms. Bridget Stevens is a military spouse.\u00a0 Her husband is a member of the National Guard; he’s currently deployed OCONUS.<\/p>\n
Recently, her furnace broke down.\u00a0 This left Ms. Stevens and her two children without heat.<\/p>\n
She called a local shop, Betlyn Heating and Cooling.\u00a0 The owner, Mr. Paul Betlyn, attempted to talk her through getting the furnace restarted.\u00a0 When that failed, he came out and fixed the furnace.<\/p>\n
So far, nothing out of the ordinary.\u00a0 But what happened next is<\/span> a bit unusual.<\/p>\n Mr. Betlyn gave Ms. Stevens a “deployment discount” since her husband was deployed.\u00a0 Instead of the normal roughly $150 that the repairs would have cost, Mr Betlyn charged her . . .\u00a0 one dollar.<\/span><\/p>\n He then told her that the $1 charge was a joke – and to thank her husband for his service.<\/p>\n
