{"id":64012,"date":"2016-01-25T09:40:59","date_gmt":"2016-01-25T14:40:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=64012"},"modified":"2016-01-25T09:40:59","modified_gmt":"2016-01-25T14:40:59","slug":"stolen-valor-bill-filed-in-virginia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=64012","title":{"rendered":"Stolen Valor bill filed in Virginia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.winchesterstar.com\/article\/bill_proposed_by_collins_would_make_stolen_valor_a_misdemeanor_in_va\">Winchester Star<\/a> reports that Delegate Chris Collins has filed a Stolen Valor bill in the Virginia legislature that would make pretending to have an enhanced military career for the purpose of gaining a tangible benefit a Class 1 misdemeanor.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Class 1 misdemeanors carry a maximum punishment of 12 months in jail and\/or a $2,500 fine.<\/p>\n<p>During a Friday morning phone interview, [29th District Delegate Chris Collins, R-Frederick County] said he had been approached by veterans groups advocating for such legislation. He has also discussed the issue with 31st District Del.
