Some bereaved widow wrote about her deceased husband over at the Daily Kos<\/a> and about the day that she spread his ashes at the Vietnam Memorial Wall in 2007, two years after he passed. She was under the misapprehension that her husband was a Vietnam War veteran, I’m guessing because that’s what he told her. Here are some screen shots of her article;<\/p>\n

As many of you know, my husband, Dan, was a Vietnam vet and a POW. His missions were covert, so he was never recogized or acknowledged by the US government. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

She claims that he joined in 1969, but he enlisted in 1965, he served about 3 and a half years on active duty and he was discharged in early 1969. But the closest he got to Vietnam was Missouri. No clandestine missions, no POW confinement. I’m not sure if she made up that clandestine, POW BS to impress her hippie buddies (one of whom is named “Peace” if that doesn’t make you vomit) or if he had convinced her of the stories. Either way, it didn’t happen. I noticed that it doesn’t mention any of it in the obituary. <\/p>\n
