You want the truth about Christmas?\u00a0 You can\u2019t handle the truth.\u00a0 Son, we live in a world that has Christmas trees, spoiled little children drooling with anticipation, parents who would do anything for their little war criminals and we celebrate the birth of our Savior \u2026 baby Jesus!\u00a0 And these children along with baby Jesus need to be protected by me and my battalion of Elves.\u00a0 Who’s going to do it \u2026 You?\u00a0 I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom.\u00a0 You weep for all those small towns that are not allowed to set up mangers and Christmas trees \u2026 you curse the ACLU (and at the same time seek a \u2018safe space\u2019 to comfort your hurt feelings); you have that luxury.\u00a0 You have the luxury of not knowing what I know, that small town politics, while tragic, probably saves lives because real Elves don\u2019t have to spend their valuable time supporting spineless people who could just say, \u201cenough is enough \u2026 it is Christmas time \u2026 the season is about baby Jesus \u2026 PERIOD\u201d.\u00a0 And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives \u2026 because, I support the Elves and defend Christmas.\u00a0 After all \u2026 I am their friggin\u2019 Boss!\u00a0 You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t enjoy talking about \u2026 like \u2018holiday\u2019 parties where you probably had too much to drink, you want me decorating Christmas trees, celebrating the Christ child, caring for those little disasters of joy, and feeding the reindeer. We use words like advent, faith, goodwill, miracle, rejoice and worship. We use them as the backbone of a life trying to defend Christmas and the true joys the season brings.\u00a0 You use them as a punch line.\u00a0 I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to anyone who rises and sleeps under the snowy blanket of Christmas I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it.\u00a0 I would rather you just said, \u201chappy holidays\u201d and went on your merry little way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a glass of spiked eggnog, take a long gulp, and enjoy its noxious wonderment. \u00a0\u00a0Either way, I don’t give a reindeer\u2019s ass or damn what you think about Christmas.<\/p>\n
