{"id":62329,"date":"2015-10-15T10:02:40","date_gmt":"2015-10-15T14:02:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=62329"},"modified":"2016-04-14T09:11:36","modified_gmt":"2016-04-14T13:11:36","slug":"new-faq-input-holding-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=62329","title":{"rendered":"New FAQ Input Holding Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Q:\u00a0 I see the term \u201cBlue Falcon\u201d used here from time to time.\u00a0\u00a0 What do you mean by a \u201cBlue Falcon\u201d?<\/p>\n<p>A:\u00a0 This question may occur to infrequent or new civilian visitors.\u00a0 The term \u201cBlue Falcon\u201d is the euphemistic version of a somewhat earthier derisive military term for a \u201cbackstabber\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A semi-polite version of that military term would be \u201cbuddy fornicator\u201d.\u00a0 The version commonly used in the military isn\u2019t anywhere close to being that polite, but I don\u2019t really think I need to spell things out further.<\/p>\n<p>What are we talking about?\u00a0 Here\u2019s an example.\u00a0 Think of the senior NCO in a military unit.\u00a0 Now, suppose that NCO sees a Soldier\/Sailor\/Airman\/Marine from another unit do something that\u2019s out-of-line, corrects them \u2013 and gets ignored.<\/p>\n<p>A professional NCO would then take the matter to their professional peer at the miscreant\u2019s unit and request they \u201csquare away\u201d their miscreant troop.\u00a0 This would keep the matter at the appropriate level (the unit level), and would also keep it within NCO channels (where such matters generally belong).\u00a0 That\u2019s simply professional courtesy and using the chain-of-command\/NCO support chain properly.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, a true \u201cBlue Falcon\u201d wouldn\u2019t do that.\u00a0 They\u2019d jump 3 or 4 levels of command and take the matter directly to a GO or equivalent civilian executive.\u00a0 Or maybe they\u2019d complain directly to the senior NCO of their service (SMA, CMSAF, MCPON, or SGTMAJMC) instead.\u00a0 That way, they might be able to screw over a whole bunch of their professional peers \u2013 and maybe even a number of people senior to themselves \u2013 at once, by proxy.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this latter type of unprofessional behavior could never happen in today\u2019s highly professional military, right?\u00a0 And if someone did pull such an unprofessional stunt they\u2019d certainly not be publicly rewarded for doing so, right?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=57425\"><em>Yeah, right<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Curiously enough, there\u2019s actually a second possibly valid definition of the term \u201cBlue Falcon\u201d.\u00a0 The US Air Force Academy\u2019s athletic mascot is the falcon; their colors are blue and white.\u00a0 Here\u2019s one version of their athletic logo, used from 1963-1994:<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/d\/da\/Air_Force_Falcons_logo_1963-1994.png\/184px-Air_Force_Falcons_logo_1963-1994.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/center>Simply coincidence, I\u2019m sure.\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n<p>Q:\u00a0 What is this, some kind of \u201cmilitary male drum circle\u201d with \u201cno girls allowed\u201d?<\/p>\n<p>A:\u00a0 Umm, no.\u00a0 The site doesn\u2019t keep detailed statistics; commenters are not asked to provide information concerning their gender. \u00a0And yes, the best I can tell from what&#8217;s posted\u00a0the majority of commenters at TAH do appear to be male.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One would expect that, actually; the military is around 80% male. His contact information can be found under the \u201cContact Us\u201d tab on the site banner.<\/p>\n<p>Verifying an individual\u2019s actual military service involves filing a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for information from their official military personnel records archived by the Federal government.\u00a0 The process of filing a FOIA request <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?page_id=39605\"><em>is covered in detail here<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 To file one, the following information is needed:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Full name (first\/middle\/last) of the individual in question <em>at the time the individual served<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Their date and place (city\/state) of birth, OR their SSN.<\/li>\n<li>Approximate dates of service (a multi-year range such as &#8220;1990-1996&#8221; or even &#8220;late 1990s&#8221; is generally close enough).<\/li>\n<li>Branch of service (Army\/Navy\/USAF\/USMC\/National Guard).<\/li>\n<li>Any other information regarding the individual\u2019s military claims that is readily available.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>(b) If you\u2019d like to support the site financially, you can donate $$$ using the \u201cDonate\u201d button just below the site banner.
