The folks at Military Phonies<\/a> send us their work on this fellow, Terry Glass<\/a> who was featured on a San Francisco news programKPIX<\/a>. He claims that he suffers from PTSD, that he needs his service dogs, that the VA isn’t giving him the help he needs. Do these look like service dogs to you?<\/p>\n

Anyway, he claims that he suffers from PTSD from his multiple tours of Iraq and Afghanistan;<\/p>\n

Here are his DD214s. He served 15 years in the active service as a surgical technician, in the operating room. Even though one of his DD214s show a Combat Action Ribbon, I don’t see where he would have an opportunity to earn one from the operating room in his assignments. He also has the Southwest Asia Service Medal, but again, I see no service in Desert Shield\/Desert Storm. <\/p>\n

It looks like he was with the 1st FSSG at Camp Pendleton for Desert Storm. The 1st FSSG is the garrison support unit there. I see where he was on a cruise with the USS TARAWA, an amphibious assault vessel, in 1996 which floated around the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch (enforcing the no-fly zone over Iraq), but the cut-off date for the Southwest Asia Service Medal was November 30, 1995, the year before the TARAWA was there. <\/p>\n

Regardless of all of that, he was out of the Navy before the war in Afghanistan and the subsequent war in Iraq.<\/p>\n

It appears that Glass did indeed retire from the Navy. You might remember that there was an early retirement in the 90s where folks with more that 15 years could retire from the military, in certain specialties. But I think that he regrets that decision now. The folks at Military Phonies did a DoD Manpower Data Center search and nothing turned up for Glass post 9-11. But that doesn’t stop him from claiming stuff to the congresswoman and the local news to get him some free money from the VA.<\/p>\n

So his imaginary tours of Iraq and Afghanistan qualify him for his pretend service dogs.<\/p>\n

It also looks like the local news station and the congresswoman are responsible for getting Glass appointments at the VA to treat his imaginary PTSD, too. So good job.<\/p>\n
