{"id":61126,"date":"2015-08-01T08:15:42","date_gmt":"2015-08-01T12:15:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=61126"},"modified":"2015-07-31T08:27:24","modified_gmt":"2015-07-31T12:27:24","slug":"regarding-the-apparently-late-mullah-omar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=61126","title":{"rendered":"Regarding the (Apparently) Late Mullah Omar . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Afghan intelligence services reported earlier this week that Mullah Omar, the one-eyed terrorist bastard who formerly led the Taliban, is dead. Omar reportedly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/07\/30\/world\/asia\/mullah-omar-taliban-death-reports-prompt-inquiry-by-afghan-government.html\">died sometime in April 2013 in Karachi, Pakistan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While this has not yet been publicly confirmed by US authorities, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-asia-33721074\">the Taliban has now appointed Omar\u2019s successor<\/a> \u2013 Omar\u2019s deputy, Mullah Akhtar Mansour. So while I wouldn\u2019t necessarily bet the farm at this point that Omar is taking the eternal dirtnap, I tend to believe that the report is very likely true.<\/p>\n<p>Mullah Akhtar Mansour was reportedly not a popular choice among some Taliban factions to lead the group. I\u2019m just heartbroken to hear that.<\/p>\n<p>There have been rumors for years that Pakistan knew of Omar\u2019s presence in Pakistan, and may have provided him protection. That would not surprise me if it were true; it would also not surprise me if the Pakistanis were keeping him under wraps for other purposes.
