Rod Blagojevich, appears to be\u00a0 Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., his attorney said at a press conference here this afternoon, but he said Jackson &#8220;has made no illicit approach to the governor.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Although Blagojevich (D) was captured on the tapes saying that an emissary from Candidate 5 had offered to raise $500,000 for Blagojevich&#8217;s campaign treasury, lawyer James Montgomery said Jackson knew nothing about that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Politicians and fundraisers do some funny things from time to time,&#8221; said Montgomery, who told reporters that Jackson does not know the unidentified emissary. &#8220;I wouldn&#8217;t put it past someone to claim they were representing congressman Jackson.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a screen shot of that in case it changes by morning;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/jessie-junior.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-6081 aligncenter\" title=\"jessie-junior\" src=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/jessie-junior-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hmmm, who in Chicago would &#8220;claim&#8221; to represent Jackson, Junior? <a href=\"http:\/\/ace.mu.nu\/archives\/279501.php\" target=\"_blank\">Ace of Spades<\/a> speculates that it&#8217;s Jackson, Senior;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Jesse Jackson, Sr. just retained legal counsel.<\/p>\n<p>Is he the &#8220;emissary&#8221;?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ace links to <a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2008\/12\/10\/jesse-jackson-jr-i-am-not-i-am-not-a-target-of-this-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\">AllahPundit<\/a> who links to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbcchicago.com\/news\/local\/Unidentified-Characters.html\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago NBC<\/a> station which says;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In two other interesting developments Wednesday, NBC Chicago learned that Jackson Jr. was given a phone call from the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office the night before the governor was taken into custody, advising him that the arrest was imminent.\u00a0 Also, the congressman&#8217;s father, Jesse Jackson Sr., has retained legal council following the Blagojevich arrest.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As is the case lately, here&#8217;s the obligatory screenshot;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/jackson-sr.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-6082 aligncenter\" title=\"jackson-sr\" src=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/jackson-sr-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>How sweet would that be to get THE Jesse Jackson on charges of being a weasel? <a href=\"http:\/\/michellemalkin.com\/2008\/12\/10\/reuters-doesnt-like-conservative-snarking-over-blagos-bust\/\" target=\"_blank\">Michelle Malkin<\/a> catches Reuters reporting that Conservatives are gleeful over this scandal &#8211; if Jesse Jackson gets rolled up in it, you can count me as &#8220;gleeful&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Obama throws Blagojevich under the bus and <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20081210\/ap_on_re_us\/illinois_governor\" target=\"_blank\">Blagojevich crawls back out<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>His career in shreds, Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich clung defiantly to power Wednesday, ignoring a call to step down from President-elect Barack Obama and a warning that Senate Democrats will not let him appoint a new senator from the state.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone is calling for his head,&#8221; said Barbara Flynn Currie, a leader in the Illinois Senate and, like the governor, a Democrat.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I hope he remains defiant &#8211; it takes a long time to indict, try and convict a Governor &#8211; let alone a governor that has everyone jumping through their respective asses the way Blagojevich has them jumping.
