{"id":59999,"date":"2015-05-25T07:00:52","date_gmt":"2015-05-25T11:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=59999"},"modified":"2015-05-24T16:25:01","modified_gmt":"2015-05-24T20:25:01","slug":"monday-morning-feel-good-stories-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=59999","title":{"rendered":"Monday morning feel good stories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/abc13.com\/news\/off-duty-deputy-shoots-robbery-suspect-in-north-houston\/738035\/\">Texas<\/a>, a fellow decided that he&#8217;d clean out the local Radio Shack one more time before they go out of business, but his get away wasn&#8217;t as clean as he would have liked;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>No threat was made, and no weapon was displayed. Before employees could react, the thief ran out the door, clutching the purloined goods.<\/p>\n<p>And then he encountered a customer preparing to walk in. It was a Harris County deputy, looking for some bargains after his extra job shift ended.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He thought a robbery had just happened, when he saw the man running out the door. He ordered the man to stop.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The command was not followed. Police say the suspect jumped into a waiting car. The deputy stood his ground in front of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Then he saw that the engine was running and a driver was behind the wheel. The car started coming at him, and that&#8217;s when he fired his gun,&#8221; said HPD public information officer Kese Smith.<\/p>\n<p>The deputy fired two shots; at least one struck the theft suspect. The driver wasn&#8217;t injured and was arrested. The wounded man was taken to Ben Taub Hospital.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/abc13.com\/video\/embed\/?pid=738035\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/miami.cbslocal.com\/2015\/05\/23\/police-victim-turns-gun-on-armed-robber\/\">Florida<\/a>, a potential victim learned that even if you don&#8217;t &#8220;stand your ground&#8221; that doesn&#8217;t make you safe, either;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>According to authorities, an armed man approached a person at 2325 NW 65 Street. The victim took off running on foot and the thief reportedly opened fire.<\/p>\n<p>The person being shot at allegedly returned fire, hitting the robber several times.<\/p>\n<p>The armed thief was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center and was listed in stable condition.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myeasternshoremd.com\/news\/queen_annes_county\/article_9d9d2c77-0782-5fa8-9891-4898cfe61cb3.html\">Maryland<\/a>, Alex Christopher Finnerty, an escaped prisoner learned that not everyone in that state is unarmed when he broke free of corrections officer and encountered a private citizen;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sheriff&#8217;s deputies, corrections officers, Maryland State Police, Centreville police, Natural Resources Police, MSP Aviation and Annapolis Police Department responded for the search, which included K-9 units, two helicopters and two SWAT teams, Patrick said.<\/p>\n<p>Several of the dogs tracked Finnerty&#8217;s scent toward the Hope Road area. About 4:30 p.m., a homeowner found signs of entry into his house and spotted Finnerty; he confronted Finnerty with a shotgun and Finnerty tried to flee, Patrick said.<\/p>\n<p>The homeowner fired a warning shot that attracted search teams, which arrived to see Finnerty running away, Patrick said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The good citizen loaned the officers his four-wheeler, which one deputy used successfully to run the prisoner down.
