Yes, that\u2019s a reference to a \u201cDavid\u201d. But not David as in \u201cDavid Duke\u201d.\u00a0 David as in \u201cDavid Bowie\u201d.<\/p>\n
Bowie’s “Thin White Duke” persona of the mid 1970s masked some major issues.\u00a0 At the time, the man had a serious drug habit – as well as drug-induced health problems. But unlike many of his contemporaries he managed to get a grip on his problems and survive reasonably intact.<\/p>\n
Regardless, the man could certainly write and sing like few others.<\/p>\n
Anyway:\u00a0 this is for you, lass; you know who you are.\u00a0 Here ya go, from 1992:\u00a0 the Thin White Duke, resplendent here in what seems to be the late 1970s\/early 1980s Army women\u2019s AG-388 \u201cmint green\u201d summer uniform color.<\/p>\n
(An aside:\u00a0 believe it or not, the man actually manages to look reasonably good wearing that godawful color \u2013 which as anyone who\u2019s ever seen any of those old women’s uniforms<\/a> can tell you, is a damned<\/span> difficult feat.\u00a0 That color was . . . well, let\u2019s just say its demise was one Army uniform change about which I can\u2019t recall ever<\/span> hearing a complaint.)<\/em><\/p>\n Here’s triple shot; Bowie wrote or co-wrote all three.\u00a0 First, a duet with Annie Lennox.<\/p>\n
