He was in critical condition with life-threatening injuries at John Peter Smith Hospital, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>A 911 call at 3:43 a.m. Monday reported that gunshots had been fired in the back yard of the residence.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the resident told police that he had shot the intruder, Cpl.
