Lloyd Keith Mitchell was a phony who came to the attention of the local sheriff’s department<\/a> when he submitted a DD214 to get a “Veteran” status on his driver license;<\/p>\n

On a date in January of this year the suspect submitted a military discharge form to obtain \u201cVeteran\u201d status on his Driver\u2019s License which also listed Mitchell as being the recipient of the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the Silver Star with clusters and the Vietnam Medal of Honor.<\/p>\n

Detectives then contacted the NCIS at Mayport and learned that not only did Mitchell not serve in the U.S. Navy, there is no record of him serving in any military branch.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The story at the St Johns County Sheriff Department reports that he also gave an hour-long presentation on his pretend military service at local Veterans’ Day, including his pretend service in the War on Terror. I hope it was all worth it for the 65-year-old.<\/p>\n

UPDATE: According to First Coast News<\/a>, Mitchell was pretending to be a retired Admiral;<\/p>\n

Mitchell, 65, caught the attention of investigators after the Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip in March that he was presenting himself as a retired Admiral, even allegedly making an hour-long presentation at the Coquina Crossing’s Veterans Day celebration.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
