Our first story this morning comes from Texas<\/a>;<\/p>\n

When officers got to the scene, the homeowner said he was awakened by the sound of his garage door opening and his dogs growling. The homeowner told police he then grabbed a semi-automatic pistol and went to investigate.<\/p>\n

The homeowner said he went out the door going into the garage and saw a man walking from the driveway near his truck toward the garage, police said. That’s when the homeowner told police he yelled at the man to stop.<\/p>\n

The man then took off running and the homeowner fired one round from his pistol, police said. It was not known whether or not the man was struck by the bullet.<\/p>\n

Police said the homeowner then went into the alley where he saw a pickup running without anyone inside. He looked inside the bed of the truck and saw several items that had been stolen from his truck, police said.<\/p>\n

The homeowner grabbed his property and then turned to walk back to his home. The suspect vehicle took off down the alley and the homeowner fired two to three more shots at the pickup, police said. It was also not known of anything was hit by the bullets.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A few parting shots makes your intentions clear to the departing criminals. But it’s not recommended.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Lee McDonald, 35, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass Tuesday morning, after causing a disturbance at Daron Barnes’s Winchester Ave home.<\/p>\n

She and her two-year-old daughter were home alone when a “suspicious man” showed up at their front door around 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

“He wouldn’t stop knocking on the front door, then he broke through our fence to get into the backyard and started trying to get through our back door,” Barnes told NewsWest 9. “I ran to get my husband’s gun [and] fired a warning shot into the air.”<\/p>\n

She said “mother’s instinct” pushed her to do whatever was necessary to protect her daughter.<\/p>\n

McDonald, realizing she was in the house and armed with a gun, allegedly fled on foot.<\/p>\n

“Odessa Police were able to catch the suspect in the alley,” said Cpl. Steve LeSueur. “That suspect was charged with criminal trespassing. He also had a couple warrants out for his arrest.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
