{"id":58789,"date":"2015-03-18T10:40:10","date_gmt":"2015-03-18T14:40:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=58789"},"modified":"2015-03-18T10:40:26","modified_gmt":"2015-03-18T14:40:26","slug":"alabama-house-passes-stolen-valor-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=58789","title":{"rendered":"Alabama House passes Stolen Valor Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.annistonstar.com\/news\/house-approves-stolen-valor-bill-votes-to-allow-part-time\/article_6d7381de-ccf7-11e4-a6ab-0f22d50a8d3b.html\">Anniston Star<\/a> reports that the Alabama state legislature approved their own Stolen Valor bill unanimously;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>With little debate, the Alabama House of Representatives voted 70-0 to make it a crime to falsely claim to hold certain military medals with &#8220;intent to defraud.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The bill would make it a misdemeanor to falsely claim to have received various combat action badges, or to falsely claim several highly respected types of combat decoration, including the Silver Star, the Purple Heart or the Medal of Honor.<\/p>\n<p>Under the bill, a false claim of a medal wouldn&#8217;t be criminal unless the person claiming the medal does so with the intent to receive money or some other tangible benefit.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As I&#8217;ve said before it is good to see state legislatures take this movement seriously, but i only wish prosecutors would take it just as seriously.
