Jonn’s article yesterday<\/a> got me thinking.\u00a0 And that’s sometimes not such a good thing – as regular TAH readers know all too well.\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n

So, with appropriate apologies to Paul Simon:\u00a0 an ode to today’s VA.<\/p>\n

Still Fudgin’ Numbers All These Years<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

That VA manager<\/em>
\n In his office, right<\/em>
\n He seemed indiff\u2019rent and<\/em>
\n Petty (though he smiled)<\/em>
\n As he grabbed for more resources<\/em>
\n To build his empire dear<\/em>
\n Been fudgin’ numbers many years<\/em>
\n Been fudgin’ numbers many years<\/em><\/p>\n

He\u2019s not the kind of man<\/em>
\n Who enjoys making waves<\/em>
\n He loves to live by<\/em>
\n His rulebook<\/em>
\n And he ain’t no fan of changes<\/em>
\n Or reporting bad news clear<\/em>
\n Just fudges numbers every year<\/em>
\n Just fudges numbers every year<\/em><\/p>\n

Four in the PM<\/em>
\n Nodding, and<\/em>
\n Yawning<\/em>
\n Droning his life away<\/em>
\n He’ll never worry<\/em>
\n Why should he?<\/em>
\n It’s all gonna fade<\/em><\/p>\n

Now he’s got that corner office<\/em>
\n Plays God every day<\/em>
\n He swears he\u2019ll clear that backlog<\/em>
\n Some damn way<\/em>
\n But he will not be replaced, no<\/em>
\n By a more competent peer<\/em>
\n Still fudgin’<\/em>
\n Yes, fudgin’<\/em>

I wish I could in good conscience say the above is satire.\u00a0 But after Jonn’s article yesterday – and the recent “secret waiting list” scandals, plus the VA’s longtime covering for hundreds of fake POWs that Jonn’s written about repeatedly<\/a> – I’m not really sure it is.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
