Among those trying to make a buck by screwing over GIs, add . . . the freaking Girl Scouts???<\/em><\/p>\n

Well, according to the Girl Scouts \u2013 no.\u00a0 Rather, it\u2019s the company with whom they\u2019ve contracted to ship Girl Scout Cookies.<\/p>\n

As you might expect, Girl Scout Cookies can now be ordered online.\u00a0 However, if you have them shipped to a \u201cmilitary address\u201d, there\u2019s a slight surcharge \u2013 as in $20 per order.<\/p>\n

The surcharge applies to military addresses overseas, including AK and HI.\u00a0 Well, I can understand that \u2013 to an extent.\u00a0 Shipping to those locations does often cost a bit more.<\/p>\n

But the extra fee also applies to military addresses in CONUS.<\/p>\n

I wish I was kidding \u2013 but I\u2019m not.\u00a0 I\u2019m dead serious<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Talk about an example of pure, outrageous bullsh!t.\u00a0 Think about it: USPS is available at every installation in CONUS.\u00a0 APO service is available overseas.\u00a0 And any reputable shipping company can access US military installations in CONUS, AK, and Hawaii to deliver packages.<\/p>\n

Hey, I can see an extra fee for AK\/HI\/OCONUS.\u00a0 But hell:\u00a0 even in AK and HI, actual cost plus a fixed handling fee should be the norm – not some bogus $20 per order “surcharge”.<\/p>\n

Not convinced?\u00a0 OK, then you tell me: why should a package delivered to, say, Fort Hood, TX, cost any more than one delivered to the adjacent community of Kileen?<\/p>\n

The answer: it shouldn\u2019t \u2013 because it freaking doesn\u2019t<\/em>.\u00a0 Shippers typically operate on a zone pricing basis.\u00a0 Whoever is adding that extra fee for CONUS military addresses is simply generating profit via screwing over the troops and their dependents.<\/p>\n

As I said above: the Girl Scouts are blaming their \u201cshipper\u201d for this blatantly outrageous fee.\u00a0 Maybe that\u2019s actually true.<\/p>\n

However, given some of the other stuff I\u2019ve seen lately about the Girl Scouts, their policies, and their political agenda . . . well, let\u2019s just say I wouldn\u2019t be surprised to find out that they\u2019re getting a hefty chunk of that \u201csurcharge\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
