You may remember when we wrote about Keith Chandler and his Purple Heart license plates last July<\/a>. Everyone figured that it would be a slam dunk and that he’d plead guilty, but apparently not. WFMJ<\/a> reports that he wants a trial instead;<\/p>\n

34-year-old Chandler decided to go on trial on seven counts of tampering with records and one count of forgery.<\/p>\n

Authorities say Chandler misled the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in order to obtain Purple Heart license plates.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In October<\/a>, his lawyer insisted that he had been injured in combat and that, somehow he was not awarded the Purple Heart;<\/p>\n

Chandler\u2019s lawyer Gary Rich plans to file an application with the court seeking intervention in lieu of conviction.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased on the injuries Keith sustained as a result of his combat fighting in Iraq, I believe he is entitled to it,\u201d said Rich.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He’s 94-years-old and somehow he survived all this time without his Purple Heart medal. He didn’t think he earned one and didn’t forge his DD214.
