The victim then shot the robber, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Police did not release the condition of the man shot. A body was at the scene of the shooting.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script height=\"300px\" width=\"500px\" src=\"http:\/\/player.ooyala.com\/iframe.js#ec=djcGt0cjpk_nVgngQFTiMqTBJkkuqUdu&#038;pbid=df513009265e4427aaf5f0342a75c90e\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The next story comes from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/essex\/index.ssf\/2015\/01\/another_newark_merchant_shoots_armed_robber_police.html\">New Jersey<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Thursday two men burst into a variety story in the 400 block of Central Avenue, with one man ordering customers onto the floor and threatening to shoot if the owner did not give the pair money. One of the suspects, 23-year-old Durell Hearn, was wielding an AK-47 pistol and fired a warning shot, department spokesman Sgt. Ron Glover said.<\/p>\n<p>The owner of the business, who was behind the counter, reached for a handgun she keeps in the store and fired a number of rounds at Hearn and the other man, Arthur Price, 50.<\/p>\n<p>The woman, whose name was not released, struck Hearn in the leg as the two men fled the store. Samples said the homeowner, Jerry Quinn, 64, was in bed when he heard an intruder inside of his residence. Quinn fired at the armed intruder, fatally shooting him.<\/p>\n<p>Samples said initial evidence suggests it was self-defense. Scott Weymouth, with the county sheriff&#8217;s department.
