There was this homeless guy in Pueblo, Colorado, Tim Johnson, who was featured on a news broadcast locally<\/a> in a story about getting housing for homeless veterans. For some reason, he thought it would be useful to call himself a Navy SEAL, but, you know with Don Shipley around, that’s never a good idea;<\/p>\n

“I just looked his name up in a database that lists every person who has graduated from any type of SEAL training in our 70-year history,\u201d Don Shipley, a retired Navy SEAL said. \u201cThere was no one by that name listed as [ever] being a Navy SEAL.”<\/p>\n

We went back to Johnson’s apartment for answers Friday.<\/p>\n

We asked Johnson about his military background.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe traveled a lot,\u201d he said. \u201cWe watched the waters in the ocean.\u201d<\/p>\n

We kept pressing Johnson about being a SEAL. Soon, his story changed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was not a SEAL,\u201d he said. \u201cThey wanted me to do that. They asked me to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

For clarification, we asked whether the military wanted Johnson to be a SEAL.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think they did,\u201d Johnson replied.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yeah, I think they didn’t. I’m sure the Navy didn’t want to waste their money on a space cadet who can barely form coherent sentences. The news folks say that Johnson is a veteran and deserves some sort of assistance, but someone should cough up a DD214 before I believe that. <\/p>\n

I wonder which MOS in the Navy involved “watching the water in the ocean”, besides all of them.<\/p>\n
