Mark sends us a link from the Daily News<\/a> in which Johnny Polanco, the father of Jason Polanco who shot two police officers in the Bronx yesterday, tries to deflect blame from himself in the form of one sad-ass apology;<\/p>\n

“I apologize to the families that my son affected by his actions, but my son is not like this,\u201d Johnny Polanco, 53, said of his son Jason, 24.<\/p>\n

The depressed dad blamed the streets for steering his son astray.<\/p>\n

“The worst thing I ever did was bring him down to Decatur Ave.,\u201d Polanco said. “He was a good kid before we moved to this forsaken block.\u201d<\/p>\n

The dad also blames the Marine Corps, saying his son was in boot camp in South Carolina but left after five months.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen he came back he was totally different person,\u201d he said. \u201cHe had a problem being around crowds and he didn’t like civilians. I told him, ‘Jase, this is not life.'”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yeah, five months in Marine Corps is what screwed him up – tens of thousands of Marines who spent a helluva lot longer than that, saw a lot more than Polanco saw, go to their regular jobs everyday without shooting cops or engage in armed robbery. If young “Jace” got booted from the Corps, there was something wrong with him when he got there, and based on this “apology” the fault lies with his parenting, or the lack thereof, rather.<\/p>\n
