{"id":57509,"date":"2015-01-07T08:00:39","date_gmt":"2015-01-07T13:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=57509"},"modified":"2015-01-07T10:22:16","modified_gmt":"2015-01-07T15:22:16","slug":"va-wants-to-count-your-guns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=57509","title":{"rendered":"VA wants to count your guns?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2015\/jan\/6\/va-free-gun-locks-raises-concerns-gun-registry\/\">The Washington Times<\/a> reports that some veterans are getting letters from the VA offering free gun locks if the veterans will tell them how many guns they have in their home;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs your partner in healthcare, we are committed to keeping you and your family safe,\u201d states the letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Times. \u201cGun locks have been shown to greatly reduce death and injury caused by firearms in the home. If you own a gun, we hope you will request and use a gun lock.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter said agency officials \u201chope to reach all our veterans with this offer.\u201d The VA said it will mail the locks to the address provided by a veteran.<\/p>\n<p>One veteran who received the letter said it raises concerns about \u201ca gun registry in disguise.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t received any of these letters so I&#8217;m thinking that it&#8217;s a regional thing, if it exists at all. A few months ago someone started a rumor about VA doctors taking guns from vets.
