{"id":57492,"date":"2015-01-06T10:00:29","date_gmt":"2015-01-06T15:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=57492"},"modified":"2015-01-05T19:29:39","modified_gmt":"2015-01-06T00:29:39","slug":"feinstein-fails-to-convince-america-that-interrogations-were-wrong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=57492","title":{"rendered":"Feinstein fails to convince America that interrogations were wrong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chief Tango sends us a link to a piece from former Bush speech writer Mark Thiessen in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/opinion\/americans-still-back-enhanced-interrogation-1.322408\">Washington Post<\/a> which took a poll just before Christmas in regards to &#8220;enhanced interrogation techniques&#8221; and the report that Dianne Feinstein rushed out to the media after Democrats lost the Senate which condemned the CIA. The Post found that the report didn&#8217;t effect most Americans&#8217; opinion of the use of those techniques;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> Americans were asked, \u201cLooking ahead, do you feel that torture of suspected terrorists can often be justified, sometimes justified, rarely justified or never justified?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Note that the pollsters used the loaded word \u201ctorture\u201d (even though the CIA contends that the techniques did not constitute torture), which should have biased the question in favor of the critics. Instead, 17 percent replied they would support using the techniques \u201coften,\u201d 40 percent \u201csometimes\u201d and 19 percent \u201crarely.\u201d Only 20 percent said the techniques should \u201cnever\u201d be justified.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p> Indeed, the poll shows that Feinstein and the opponents of CIA interrogations have actually lost ground over the past five years. In April 2009, the Pew Poll asked almost the exact same question. Back then, 71 percent said they would support enhanced interrogation (15 percent \u201coften\u201d; 34 percent \u201csometimes\u201d; 22 percent \u201crarely\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>Only 25 percent said \u201cnever.\u201d So in five years, we\u2019ve seen a 5 percentage point shift in support of enhanced interrogation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Kind of sounds like the gun control debate doesn&#8217;t it? The more the left yammers about a subject, the more political they look and the more they lose Americans. Clearly, they don&#8217;t listen to Americans, they tell us how to feel and think about issues.
