And in truth, the French have their faults.<\/p>\n<p>But in some respects, they seem to \u201cget it\u201d better than we do.<\/p>\n<p>First, they actually decided to do something meaningful about the recent Russian \u201cadventure\u201d in the eastern Ukraine. Specifically, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2014\/nov\/25\/france-suspends-warships-deal-russia\">they\u2019ve suspended delivery of a warship they built for Russia<\/a> . They\u2019re also doing the same with a second ship under construction.<\/p>\n<p>And now, one of their politicians has recommended that the Devil\u2019s Island prison near Guyana be reopened \u2013 and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2854318\/Send-jihadis-Devil-s-Island-French-politician-demands-Paris-reopens-Papillon-jail-terrorists.html\">used to house French residents convicted of terrorism<\/a>. He also said that it would be a good place for those who\u2019ve fought for ISIS and\/or al Qaeda.<\/p>\n<p>Makes sense to me, and the guy advocating this sounds like a smart man. I wonder if we could lease some space there \u2013 or work out a dual-use agreement?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many TAH readers have a low opinion of France.
