It&#8217;s an operational prototype of a 30-killowat laser weapon system.<\/p>\n<p>This one is more than simply a \u201cdazzeler\u201d, too. Though it has non-lethal modes of operation (including &#8220;dazzling&#8221; an opponent&#8217;s eyes), it&#8217;s also reportedly capable of destroying small targets.<\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg.com has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2014-11-14\/u-s-navy-deploys-its-first-laser-weapon-in-the-persian-gulf.html\"><em>decent article on the subject<\/em><\/a>.
