Try not to blow a gasket at the utter stupidity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 <a href=\"http:\/\/apnews.myway.com\/article\/20141031\/us--ebola-nurse_quarantined-maine-6f5110d256.html\">An idiot judge in Maine ruled against allowing the State of Maine to quarantine<\/a> that Narcissistic Ditz and Special Little Snowflake of a nurse who recently returned from treating Ebola patients in West Africa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 At the same time, it\u2019s been reported that <a href=\"http:\/\/wagmtv.com\/state-of-maine-document-reports-kaci-hickoxs-roommate-in-africa-developed-ebola\/\">Ditzy\u2019s roommate in Africa appears to have contracted Ebola<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 While in another example of Ditzy being Ditzy, that Narcissist Ditz and Special Little Snowflake nurse in Maine has now stated that she believes Ebola quarantines to be <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/maine-nurse-sees-ebola-quarantines-abundance-politics-181920875.html\">an &#8220;abundance of politics&#8221;<\/a>.\u00a0 (sigh)\u00a0 You know, you&#8217;d think a nurse would know at least a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">little<\/span> something about protecting the public from deadly and incurable diseases for which no vaccine exists.\u00a0 Oh, wait &#8211; I forgot.\u00a0 She&#8217;s &#8220;special&#8221;, so those measures simply don&#8217;t apply to her.\u00a0 Her convenience is more important than protecting the public.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 As I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=56163\">previously wrote<\/a> here at TAH: a few days ago, <a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2014\/10\/29\/cdc-admits-droplets-from-a-sneeze-could-spread-ebola\/\">CDC admitted that droplets from a sneeze could spread Ebola<\/a>.\u00a0 However, not long afterwards they abruptly did an about-face and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2815903\/New-CDC-confusion-Ebola-deletes-warning-virus-spread-coughs-sneezes-website.html\">replaced that admission on their web site with a \u201cdon\u2019t worry, be happy\u201d version downplaying that fact<\/a> &#8211; apparently in order to hide politically inconvenient truth from the general public.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>(Don\u2019t believe me? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/infections-spread-by-air-or-droplets.pdf\">Look here<\/a> for their original admission from 29 October &#8211; which has now vanished from their site. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vhf\/ebola\/pdf\/infections-spread-by-air-or-droplets.pdf\">Look here<\/a> for the watered-down version that replaced it, dated 1 November. The original version appears to have vanished from the CDC website sometime on or after 31 October, probably on 1 November\u00a0 \u2013 but not before a copy was archived for posterity on 31 October. [smile]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>And please, libidiots: spare me those transparently bogus &#8220;The document was revised to make it more accurate&#8221; claims.\u00a0 IMO that claim&#8217;s very obviously bullsh!t, and anyone with even two working brain cells can see it&#8217;s bullsh!t. It was revised because the original version was obviously written by someone who actually cares more about protecting the public than playing politics &#8211; and thus contradicted the Administration&#8217;s desired &#8220;fairy tale with a happy ending&#8221; story now found in the new version.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 However, at the same time <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wnd.com\/2014\/10\/who-urges-sneeze-protection-while-cdc-retreats\/\">WHO is recommending sneeze protection as appropriate for those around Ebola sufferers<\/a>. You know, WHO has been directly managing the efforts to contain Ebola in West Africa for a while. Maybe they know a thing or two about how Ebola really spreads.\u00a0 And they don\u2019t seem interested in hiding the truth for political reasons, either.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 Of course the WHO isn&#8217;t exactly the poster child for accuracy and transparency concerning the West African Ebola Outbreak, either. Last Friday (31 October), it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/health\/2014\/10\/31\/ebola-death-toll-rises-fewer-cases-in-guinea-than-thought-who-says\/\">revised the outbreak fatality and total case figures from Guinea substantially <em>downward<\/em> <\/a>&#8211; due ostensibly to removal of &#8220;suspected cases&#8221; from the totals.\u00a0 Total casualty figures for the outbreak are now set at 4,951 dead and 13,567 total cases to date &#8211; which are estimated to be only 40% of the true total.\u00a0 Now, while WHO doesn&#8217;t have any real reason to exclude suspected cases, the government of Guinea &#8211; who reports the totals &#8211; certainly might have an agenda here (make it appear as if things are under control, and thus ease travel and trade restrictions). Given that, plus the known massive degree of under-reporting of Ebola cases to date during this outbreak, pardon me if I take that &#8220;removal of suspected cases&#8221; rationale for lowering the numbers with a HUGE grain of salt.\u00a0 Figuratively speaking, of course.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 FEMA also is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wnd.com\/2014\/10\/fema-conducts-pandemic-training-in-n-y-n-j\/\">currently conducting a pandemic exercise in NYC and northern NJ<\/a>. Kinda makes one wonder, eh? Especially after that little incident with our \u201cloose cannon\u201d and self-appointed demigod doctor in NYC who apparently thought he was Superman &#8211; and found out the hard way he wasn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 CDC has reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbo.gov\/index?s=opportunity&amp;mode=form&amp;id=fea4c766bc279fc4818a7c01fb937445&amp;tab=core&amp;_cview=0\">announced its intent to procure PPE<\/a> \u2013 and other items, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbo.gov\/utils\/view?id=8052c11334afbf9e3ffddeb9c813146c\">including body bags<\/a> \u2013 for use during the current Ebola outbreak. And the Pentagon is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/profectus-biosciences-receives-95-million-department-of-defense-funding-to-manufacture-trivalent-vesiculovax-vectored-vaccine-to-protect-against-all-ebola-and-marburg-viruses-281051392.html\">funding preclinical trials of Ebola vaccine produced by Protectus Biosciences<\/a>.\u00a0 These last two were noted on <em>Infowars.com<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.infowars.com\/cdc-to-purchase-body-bags-in-anticipation-of-more-ebola-deaths\/\">here <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.infowars.com\/pentagon-funds-vaccine-to-counter-airborne-exposure-to-ebola\/\">here<\/a>, of course with the typical Infowars breathless, conspiracy-oriented spin. But even blind squirrels occasionally find a walnut. <em>(I\u2019ve chosen to link here to the actual source announcements first.\u00a0 Look at the latter two links if you want to see Infowars&#8217; conspiracy-theory-laden take on them.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 Remember those airport screenings the Administration said would protect us from importing Ebola without imposing a ban on travel to the US from the outbreak area? Studies of past similar efforts show exactly what many experts predicted before we even began the program:\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/federal-eye\/wp\/2014\/10\/31\/these-scientific-studies-show-that-airport-ebola-screenings-are-largely-ineffective\/\">they\u2019re essentially worthless, \u201cfor show only\u201d exercises<\/a> when it comes to actually identifying people with latent infectious diseases having similar symptoms.\u00a0 But &#8220;that&#8217;s our\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <del>story<\/del>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 policy and we&#8217;re sticking to it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 Canada\u2019s leaders have proved they\u2019re not utterly naive PC fools. They\u2019ve followed Australia\u2019s lead and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/health\/canada-won-t-issue-visas-to-residents-of-countries-with-widespread-ebola-1.2081402\">suspended entry to Canada for people who&#8217;d been in a nation with widespread Ebola outbreaks during the past 3 months<\/a>. I guess Canadian leaders still realize that their first responsibility is to, you know, <em>protect their own public first<\/em>.\u00a0 Maybe some folks in the current Administration should take notes. (Predictably, <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/ebola-hit-sierra-leone-hits-canada-over-visa-201837054.html\">folks in Sierra Leone aren&#8217;t pleased<\/a>, calling the decision &#8220;discriminatory&#8221;.\u00a0 No, dipsticks &#8211; it&#8217;s called &#8220;erring on the side of caution&#8221;.\u00a0 Everyone should be doing the same.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 Hell, even <a href=\"http:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2014\/09\/29\/kim-jong-un-in-hiding-due-to-emmental-cheese-addiction-4885588\/\">Emmental-Boi<\/a> and Supreme Idiot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=29502\">ND:tBF<\/a> and his moronic geriatric cronies in Norkland have the sense to know that you don&#8217;t take any chances whatsoever when it comes to Ebola. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2014\/nov\/02\/north-korea-foreign-threat-ebola\">They&#8217;ve clamped down harder than Canada and Australia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 Spanish intel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/Breitbart-London\/2014\/10\/30\/Ebola-Weaponisation-Spain-Blackmail-Prague\">reportedly has intercepted Jihadist electronic talk about using Ebola as a weapon<\/a>. Well, OK.\u00a0 However, given what I\u2019ve seen regarding the competence of the vast majority of those goat- and\/or donkey-fornicating &#8220;geniuses&#8221; I don\u2019t plan on losing any sleep over this.\u00a0 Provided here FYI, since YMMV.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 A major US nurses\u2019 union apparently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.courant.com\/sns-rt-us-usa-health-ebola-nurses-20141030-story.html\">plans strikes to protest of the \u201clack of adequate protective gear\u201d<\/a> for nurses caring for Ebola patients. Well, that\u2019s their stated reason. I suspect the real reason may be that the union in question is in the middle of acrimonious negotiations with Kaiser Permanente in California regarding a new contract, and that this stated rationale for striking is actually little more than a \u201ctimely justification of convenience\u201d that the nurses&#8217; union thinks will play well in the press.\u00a0 But I could be wrong.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 The aide group MSF says that <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/leone-ebola-outbreak-catastrophic-aid-group-msf-223833151.html\">the Sierra Leone Ebola outbreak is much worse than is being reported<\/a>. Yeah?\u00a0 OK, now tell us something we didn\u2019t already know. Even if MSF has an obvious agenda and is a group of freaking idiots who clearly must have more money than they can use (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=55277\">they actually turned down a donation of funds worth roughly $2M from the Australian government a few weeks ago for political reasons<\/a>), here they\u2019re simply telling us something that anyone who\u2019s been following this situation closely already knows all too well.<\/p>\n<p>And, lastly:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 <a href=\"http:\/\/hosted.ap.org\/dynamic\/stories\/U\/US_EBOLA_HOW_BAD_CAN_IT_GET?SITE=AP&amp;SECTION=HOME&amp;TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&amp;CTIME=2014-11-01-10-25-24\">Models predict up to 130 US Ebola cases in US by end of year if current policies remain unchanged<\/a>. That&#8217;s the high-end, worst-case estimate; the best case estimates say we should expect one or two more.\u00a0 Reality will likely be somewhere between the two &#8211; but could theoretically be better or worse if we get really lucky or unlucky.\u00a0 Since this strain of Ebola\u2019s fatality rate seems to be around 70%, I guess that means the current Administration is OK with seeing 90 people or so in the US die a horrible, eminently preventable death for no other reason than order to show our \u201csolidarity with the people of West Africa\u201d (or some other such\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <del>old-style Marxist<\/del>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <del>manifestly idiotic<\/del>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <del>outdated Communist<\/del>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <del>naive but Politically Correct<\/del>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <del>One World Propaganda<\/del>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 starry-eyed, nebulous, feelgood sound-bite claptrap).<\/p>\n<p>Sheesh.\u00a0 Looks to me like the late Robert A. Heinlein was a bit off in his estimated time-frame for the &#8220;Crazy Years&#8221;.\u00a0 Obviously they&#8217;re still ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>A final parting thought for today.\u00a0 A TAH reader asked me in a private email if I&#8217;d noticed what follows.\u00a0 Yeah, I had; I though it was pretty damn obvious, so I haven&#8217;t mentioned it in any articles here to date.
