One of our Facebook friends sent us a link to SanTanValley.com<\/a> in regards to this John R. Acton fellow who is running for constable in Arizona. They investigated him in regards to his stated history in law enforcement and found his record wanting, so naturally, they doubted his military service as well;<\/p>\n

Over the last 8 years, in addition to the fabricated law enforcement career, Acton spoke often about being a Vietnam Vet or a US Army Veteran in the Vietnam Era. He claimed to have participated in “advance infantry warfare”, had “secret clearance MI. level 4” and was a decorated officer. Sometimes he said that he was honorably discharged due to an injury, other times he said he was retired military.<\/p>\n

After weeks of working with the Congressional office of the United States Department of Defense, we received information from the National Personnel Record’s Center re: Acton’s military experience.<\/p>\n

What did we learn?<\/p>\n

We learned that John R Acton<\/p>\n

was in the enlisted reserve on inactive duty for 9 weeks from May 20, 1965 to July 29, 1965
\n went to basic training July 30, 1965 – Oct 2, 1965
\n was discharged 4 1\/2 months after completing basic training, with the rank of Private, on Feb 18, 1966
\n did not serve any foreign service (Vietnam)
\n did not retire from the military<\/p>\n

No advance infantry warfare, no secret clearance MI level 4 and no retirement. It appears that Acton wasn’t completely honest about his military experience either.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

They say that Acton refused to show anyone his DD214 which would make anyone suspicious – it makes me suspicious. So I went to his website<\/a> where he writes this about his military career;<\/p>\n

I suppose that’s true that he was a four-month Vietnam Era veteran, but only marginally. Further, as proof, he posts this from the American Legion;<\/p>\n

So I asked the American Legion’s National Adjutant, Daniel Wheeler, whose signature appears on that particular certificate. He responded; “It is nothing but a direct marketing gimmick and has no official value whatsoever.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
