<\/a><\/center><\/p>\nSomeone called to tell us about this Aaron Elijah Colyer<\/a> fellow who looks to be a homeless Marine Corps veteran. He’s set up a Rally<\/a> tin cup to take up collections for helping veterans, mostly, though, I’m guessing that it’s for helping himself. There are reports of him recently panhandling as a combat veteran with PTSD outside the Oakland A’s game.<\/p>\n On July 24, 2014, I was homeless, a Disabled USMC Veteran with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and I was ticketed by Alameda Police for \u201cSleeping\/Living in a Vehicle\u201d. When did it become illegal to exist? When did it become illegal to be homeless? What else is a person supposed to do?<\/p>\n When I began to do some research I found that it\u2019s not JUST me, there is an epidemic of homelessness in America and according to estimates by the Department Veterans Affairs, 23% of all homeless persons are veterans. That means between 250,000-1,000,000 homeless veterans, many of which are disabled and suffer from PTSD and other mental health issues and do not receive, or are ineligible for, V.A. medical care or services. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n Googling around the internet, you can find examples of him calling himself “Rev”, although I can’t find a church with which he is affiliated. Back three years ago, he had attached himself<\/a> to the Occupy Movement;<\/p>\n My name is rev Aaron Elijah Colyer, I am a homeless Marine Corps Veteran, and I was carrying the American flag at last nights Occupy Seattle Rally along with other United States Marine Corps, Army, and Navy Veterans. There are at least 250,000 homeless veterans in this country, but I dont ever see that being talked about on any of these forums. Jamie Dimon should be arrested, along with Ben Bernenke, Timothy Geitner, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Barack (Barry Soetoro) Obama, and dozens of other people who orchestrated this intentional financial collapse. Those of you who are against this movement must have jobs STILL, you must not have lost your homes YET, you must think it is alright to leave those who defended your country homeless on the streets. Well gues what? The Occupy movement is TOO BIG TO FAIL and we are not going anywhere, in the words of GW Bush, you are either with us or you are against us. You got robbed and so did I and if you dont stand up to these folk then you are accomplices and deserve to be robbed and much more.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Yeah, he was robbed and he was robbed by himself;<\/p>\n He has applied to the VA for benefits, but because he has an Other Than Honorable Conditions discharge, they won’t help. According to the VA he has a number of Captains’ Masts (Article 15s) mostly for misbehaving under the influence. He is, however, getting help from some of the non-profits to fix his homeless problem which have a lower threshold for benefits than the VA. But, I guess the DD214 comes with PTS. I really wish these guys would start blaming their bad behavior on their parents like they used to do, instead of their peacetime service as an aircraft mechanic in Beaufort, South Carolina.<\/p>\n UPDATE:<\/strong> OK, he sends this set of discharge orders from the National Guard. I suspect (from my experience) that he witheld information from the NGs when he enlisted and when they found out about the UOTHC discharge, they asked him to leave and gave him an Honorable Discharge. But we won’t know that unless he sends us a NG-22.<\/p>\n He also claims that his PTS resulted from childhood trauma and that he never claimed that it happened during his service, but he never said that it didn’t either.
