Today the Associated Press<\/a> reports that commander of those Filipinos is charging that their United Nations commander had ordered them to surrender to the Syrian rebels;<\/p>\n Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang said he advised the 40 Filipino peacekeepers not to lay down their arms, and they defied the U.N. peacekeeping commander’s order. There’s no loyalty to soldiers under their command. Apparently, the commander thought that he could trade the Filipinos for the Fijians in a diplomatic negotiation coup and score big points with the UN civilian structure.
