Perhaps.  Chutzpah?  Yep.  Brains?  Um, Maybe Not So Much."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A young woman in Riverside, CA, told her employer she&#8217;d injured her foot while working. The injury was allegedly bad enough she repeatedly told doctors she <a href=\"http:\/\/losangeles.cbslocal.com\/2014\/08\/12\/caught-on-camera-beauty-pageant-contestant-nabbed-in-workers-compensation-fraud\/\">\u201ccould not wear any type of shoe for a period of time and could not move it [her foot] in any direction.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Her doctor provided an orthopedic shoe and crutches. She was ordered not to work. Because the injury was sustained at work, she was eligible for workman\u2019s compensation benefits. She must have hurt her foot pretty badly, too \u2013 she was out of work for weeks.<\/p>\n<p>There was only one problem. While not working because of her \u201cinjuries\u201d and drawing said workman\u2019s compensation benefits, the young lady participated in multiple beauty contests.<\/p>\n<p>A video of one of those events even made it onto YouTube.\u00a0 That particular beauty contest was only a few days after her initial claim of injuring her foot.<\/p>\n<p>Oops.<\/p>\n<p>It seems that one of the things she did while participating in those beauty contest was walk &#8211; in high heels, with no apparent discomfort or difficulty. Which was precisely what she claimed she could <em>not<\/em> do, and which was also what she claimed prevented her from working.<\/p>\n<p>Shawna Lynn Palmer, 22, is now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2724069\/Grocery-store-clerk-22-couldn-t-work-broken-toe-charged-fraud-competing-beauty-pageants-wearing-high-heels.html\">facing three felony charges<\/a> and the possibility of 1 year in jail, 3 years of probation, and paying $24k in restitution.<\/p>\n<p>I guess it takes all kinds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A young woman in Riverside, CA, told her employer she&#8217;d injured her foot while working.
