<\/a><\/center><\/p>\nRon Dickey, that “Green Beret” food service specialist<\/a> went to the media, the Clarion Ledger<\/a>, to tell everyone that he didn’t lie, nor did he attempt to mislead the voting public in regards to his military service;<\/p>\n “This happened over 21 years ago. At that time the Army had different standards, the Department of the Army issued me a green beret. Not only did they issue the Green Berets to those who choose to go through the training course to become a green beret,” he said. “It’s like the difference between a certified teacher and an uncertified teacher.”<\/p>\n Dickey, of Horn Lake, said the campaign workers who wrote his biography information didn’t understand the difference, but owned up to being the last say on what’s published.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Yeah, well, it’s always the staff who screws it all up, isn’t it? And the difference between a qualified special forces soldier and a food service specialist is a little more broad than being qualified and unqualified. Dickey did nothing related to special forces operations besides handing out MREs. Someone said last night in the comments, the difference between the two is like between a teacher and the lunch lady.<\/p>\n As one of his platform issues is veterans’ rights, Dickey said he certainly never meant to be misleading or divisive.<\/p>\n “I never said that I was Q School qualified. I said that back then I was issued a beret by the Department of the Army, just like everyone in the Army,” he said. “I’m out here for the vets so I don’t want to have divisive issues with the vets. The centerpiece of my platform is vets’ rights.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n GFY, Dickey – we don’t need a lying sack of feces to do anything for us. if you compare being a food service specialist to being a special forces soldier…just GFY.<\/p>\n His website and social media accounts are “run by my campaign. But I’m the ultimate decider of what gets put on and what’s taken off.”<\/p>\n Since the controversy started, Dickey has edited and removed most of the language referring to his service with the Green Berets.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Yeah, he’s been editing, mostly your comments on his Facebook page. <\/p>\n Nowhere in his literature does Dickey claim to have completed or attempted the “Q” Course, a rigorous training course for the elite special forces unit, nor does he claim to have taken or passed an airborne course which would be a definite prerequisite, but in various places on social media he is listed as a Green Beret and a veteran of Desert Storm. Dickey did serve overseas in Korea during Desert Storm, according military records obtained by the Guardian of Valor website, guardianofvalor.com.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Yeah, Korea…Desert Storm, same thing.<\/p>\n He went on to say that he wouldn’t have deliberately set out to deceive people knowing that he would be in the public eye.<\/p>\n “I was given the Good Conduct medal. I was honorably discharged,” he said. “I just want to keep down the controversy and confusion. I thought I could get that done. That’s all I want to do. I just want to deal with the issues.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Why? Why would he want to talk issues when he had that “green beret” shit written across the internet. If he hadn’t planned on misleading people, he would have called himself a “veteran” like the rest of the world does.
