Hey, Germany, if you don’t elect this guy to be your Prime Minister,<\/a> you’re a bunch of racists!<\/p>\n

The Green party, one of Germany’s main political parties, has elected the son of Turkish immigrants to its top political post, the first time any party here has chosen a leader with an immigrant\u00a0background.<\/p>\n

The election Saturday of Cem Ozdemir, 42, born in southern Germany of parents who had come from Turkey to work as “Gastarbeiter,” or guest workers, during the 1960s, marks a major turning point not only for the opposition Greens, but also for the country as a\u00a0whole.<\/p>\n

Even though more than 2.6 million Turks live in Germany, accounting for 3 percent of the population, few have managed to make it to the higher ranks of the professions, including politics and the civil\u00a0service.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

After the way Germans have treated the Turks for the last sixty years, this would go a long way towards healing those gaping wounds. He’s well-spoken and clean, so what’s your excuse? The world would probably like you a lot better if you pick the people we want you to pick as your leaders. If he came to the United States, we could probably put together a huge rally for him – say, in front of the Lincoln Memorial? Great back drop. We’ll even pretend to go ape-shit for him.<\/p>\n

Never mind that he’s a member of the Green Party which has as it’s political centerpiece the total destruction of the German economy. We don’t care about that, we want you to elect someone who just looks different than most Germans.<\/p>\n
