The blogs are abuzz today with the revelation that the Obama administration is seriously considering pressuring Israel to accept the Middle East peace plan <\/a>that the Saudis first floated six years ago.<\/p>\n

Barack Obama is to pursue an ambitious peace plan in the Middle East involving the recognition of Israel by the Arab world in exchange for its withdrawal to pre-1967 borders, according to sources close to America\u2019s president-elect.<\/p>\n

Obama intends to throw his support behind a 2002 Saudi peace initiative endorsed by the Arab League and backed by Tzipi Livni, the Israeli foreign minister and leader of the ruling Kadima party. The proposal gives Israel an effective veto on the return of Arab refugees expelled in 1948 while requiring it to restore the Golan Heights to Syria and allow the Palestinians to establish a state capital in east Jerusalem.<\/p>\n

On a visit to the Middle East last July, the president-elect said privately it would be \u201ccrazy\u201d for Israel to refuse a deal that could \u201cgive them peace with the Muslim world\u201d, according to a senior Obama adviser.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Is this going to happen?<\/p>\n

Hard to imagine Israel accepting it but if they do, it is not Obama who should shoulder the blame. The left has been trying to throw Israel under the bus for decades and Obama is nothing if not a hard leftist but it will not be his fault if this very lopsided deal that only serves to weaken Israel occurs.<\/p>\n

Here is where I piss off a whole bunch of folks.<\/p>\n

Any damage done to the security or sovereignty of the state of Israel can be placed directly in the laps of AMERICAN JEWS. History could easily record that the greatest single threat ever faced by Israel was the AMERICAN JEW.<\/p>\n

Jews in America have become almost as much a monolithic voting block as African Americans and it is overwhelmingly not in the interest of Israel.<\/p>\n

According to the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Only Ronald Reagan among Republican presidential candidates was able to break this pattern when he received nearly 38 percent of the Jewish vote in 1980. Traditionally, Republican candidates for the White House receive around 18 percent of the national Jewish vote.<\/p>\n

According to data collected over the past several years, an overwhelming majority of Jews – 73 percent – describe themselves as moderate or liberal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So to my Jewish friends I remind you that elections have consequences.<\/p>\n

Obama and the far left has never been a friend of Israel yet your community has consistently supported leaders that would do harm to your homeland.<\/p>\n
