Rafael Peralta <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/?gws_rd=ssl#q=rafael+peralta+site:valorguardians.com\">multiple times previously at TAH<\/a>.\u00a0 He was KIA in Fallujah, Iraq, in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Peralta was initially recommended for the Medal of Honor by his chain-of-command.\u00a0 That recommendation was ultimately downgraded to the Navy Cross.<\/p>\n<p><em>Stars and Stripes<\/em> recently published an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/does-peralta-deserve-the-medal-of-honor-1.288847\">excellent overview of the controversy <\/a>concerning Peralta&#8217;s Medal of Honor recommendation and how it was eventually downgraded to the Navy Cross.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re not familiar with the story &#8211; or would just like to see a summary of the issue &#8211; the article appears worth the time.<\/p>\n<p>Rest in peace, Sgt.
