Gateway Pundit <\/a>has the video of Michael Steele announcing his candidacy for the RNC chair on Hannity and Colmes last night.<\/p>\n I can’t think of a better choice for the chairman of the Republican National Committee. As Lt Governor of Maryland, he and Governor Ehrlich slashed spending and turned over a surplus to the O’Malley administration (which spent the surplus and raised taxes within seven months). That’s the kind of leadership the Republican Party needs. From everything I can tell, Steele is a true conservative and he’s suffered the slings and arrows from the race-baiting Democrats and he’s still in the game – that says something about the strength of his character. Right up there with Sarah Palin.<\/p>\n Steele told the Washington Post<\/a>;<\/p>\n “After two devastating election cycles, the party has reached a crossroads,” said Steele, who compared the Republican Party to someone who has “hunkered down” in a corner with no real idea how to get out. “I think I may have some keys to open the door, some juice to turn on the lights,” he added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The most important trait he exhibits is he recognizes that when we run as Conservatives, as a unified party, we win elections. We need experienced new blood running the party and Michael Steele is it.<\/p>\n
