The folks at Hooligan Street Journal<\/a> met this fellow, Jordan Taylor, panhandling on a corner in Montclair, California dressed in the old DCUs with a sign claiming that he is a veteran and he wants to be hired. And that God should bless you. The fellow who sat with him asked him some questions, but nothing to verify his service;<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m actually educated,\u201d he tells me. I\u2019m not surprised by the statement. He has a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Hotel Restaurant Management from Johnson and Wales University in Denver. He also earned an Associate\u2019s degree in Culinary Arts. <\/p>\n

We get into the subject of war. He\u2019s anti-violence, and contrary to his current uniform, anti-military. With no love lost for his fellow soldiers, it\u2019s simply his personal view. He signed up for the military because \u201cit\u2019s supposed to be a defensive peace force.\u201d Unfortunately, Taylor quickly realized the U.S. military is a \u201cviolent aggravating force\u201d overseas. He understands that war is occasionally necessary to prevent catastrophes, and references Hitler in WWII. But mostly, \u201cIt\u2019s about money\u2026money and resources.\u201d <\/p>\n

Taylor has never been gung-ho for violence, nor does he respect blood thirsty soldiers. He\u2019s thankful that he never had to fire his weapon. \u201cI\u2019m actually squeamish around blood,\u201d he admits. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mighty nice of him to be peaceful, yet wearing an Army uniform. Well, Scotty decided<\/a> to check him out and the NPRC says “Who?”<\/p>\n

The interview continues and Jordan says that he picks up “between $150-$300 every 2-3 hours” from folks who think they’re contributing to a veteran. He claims that no homeless shelter will take him because he’s a substance abuser. So, see, he fits what folks expect from vets. Nice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
