{"id":49587,"date":"2014-06-02T12:30:26","date_gmt":"2014-06-02T16:30:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=49587"},"modified":"2014-06-02T14:36:29","modified_gmt":"2014-06-02T18:36:29","slug":"nra-statement-on-open-carry-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=49587","title":{"rendered":"NRA statement on Open Carry Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2014\/jun\/2\/nra-shames-open-carry-demonstrators-downright-fool\/\">The Washington Times<\/a> reports that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nraila.org\/news-issues\/articles\/2014\/5\/good-citizens-and-good-neighbors-the-gun-owners-role.aspx\">NRA has issued a statement<\/a> regrading some of the same issues that we have addressed in recent weeks in regards to the &#8220;Open Carry&#8221; movement;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe applaud Texans for [their robust gun culture], but a small number have recently crossed the line from enthusiasm to downright foolishness,\u201d the statement continued. \u201c[I]t is a rare sight to see someone sidle up next to you in line for lunch with a 7.62 rifle slung across his chest, much less a whole gaggle of folks descending on the same public venue with similar arms. Let\u2019s not mince words, not only is it rare, it\u2019s downright weird and certainly not a practical way to go normally about your business while being prepared to defend yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[W]hen people act without thinking, or without consideration for others \u2013 especially when it comes to firearms \u2013 they set the stage for further restrictions on our rights. Firearm owners face enough challenges these days; we don\u2019t need to be victims of friendly fire,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Geez, I thought I was blunt, but the NRA out-blunted me.
