{"id":48745,"date":"2014-05-25T10:21:35","date_gmt":"2014-05-25T14:21:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=48745"},"modified":"2014-05-25T12:37:34","modified_gmt":"2014-05-25T16:37:34","slug":"gi-joes-creator-passes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=48745","title":{"rendered":"GI Joe&#8217;s Creator Passes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The creator of GI Joe has died.<\/p>\n<p>Donald Levine, former executive at Hasbro, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/2014\/05\/24\/father-gi-joe-first-action-figure-dies-at-86\/\">died early last Thursday<\/a>.\u00a0 He was 86.<\/p>\n<p>In 1964, Levine was Hasbro&#8217;s chief of R&amp;D.\u00a0 He and a team of designers came up with what would become GI Joe.\u00a0 It was introduced in time for the 1964 Christmas season.<\/p>\n<p>The choice of clothing and accessories was indeed intentional.\u00a0 Levine was an Army veteran of the Korean War.\u00a0 Many of the personnel working at Hasbro at the time were also military veterans.<\/p>\n<p>Levine&#8217;s funeral was scheduled for this morning.\u00a0 He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Nan; 3 children; and 4 grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>RIP, Mr. Levine.\u00a0 And thanks for bringing about a bit of Americana.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The creator of GI Joe has died.
