{"id":48355,"date":"2014-05-22T07:00:11","date_gmt":"2014-05-22T11:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=48355"},"modified":"2014-05-21T19:00:18","modified_gmt":"2014-05-21T23:00:18","slug":"david-scott-d-ga-calls-for-shinsekis-resignation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=48355","title":{"rendered":"David Scott (D-GA) calls for Shinseki&#8217;s resignation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Georgia Democrat David Scott took to the floor of the House to call for the resignation of Eric Shinseki yesterday, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/stories\/2014\/05\/21\/watch-a-house-democrat-absolutely-unload-on-va-officials-they-told-a-damn-lie\/\">The Blaze<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Scott said he was in his home state of Georgia to discuss a wave of soldiers taking their own lives while in the hospital. He said he and Veterans\u2019 Affairs Committee Chairman Jeff Miller (R-Fla.) asked if there were any others, and were told no.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd they told a damn lie!\u201d Scott bellowed in an emotional speech. \u201cThe very next day it was exposed there was another soldier that committed suicide, and they covered it up!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He went on to say &#8220;We don&#8217;t have time for any more investigations, the reports are in.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Q-wmZING2pU\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In other news in regards to the House and the VA, <a href=\"http:\/\/concernedveteransforamerica.org\/\">Concerned Veterans For America<\/a> tells us that the House passed the Department of Veterans Affairs Management Accountability Act of 2014 (HR 4031) with final vote of 390-33. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This bipartisan bill empowers the VA Secretary to fire and replace failing executives and managers, and is now headed to the Senate for consideration.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe VA Management Accountability Act\u2019s overwhelming and bipartisan passage in the House is the first step on the road to accountability at the Department of Veterans Affairs, and is a sign that members on both sides of the aisle understand the urgent need to restore trust in the scandal-plagued VA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKudos to Rep. Jeff Miller of Florida, the chair of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, who worked to introduce this bill, champion it, and get it passed. And thank you to the The American Legion, AMVETS, and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans for America for their early and vocal support of the bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a historic move by the House, but the fight is not over. We will remain vigilant as the bill moves to the Senate, where Sen. Marco Rubio\u2019s companion version awaits action.
