Police in Britain do not usually name suspects until they are charged. The force said it was identifying Begg to the media “as a result of the anticipated high public interest.”<\/p>\n
The four suspects were being questioned at a Birmingham police station, while counterterrorism officers searched their homes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Begg was arrested in 2002 by Pakistani officers for recruiting for al Qaeda, providing money and training at terrorist camps. But, since he was born in the UK, the Brits intervened on his behalf and got him released back into the wild. Begg returned the favor by suing his native country, the UK, for complicity with the US’ terror war – the UK settled out of court.
