{"id":39712,"date":"2014-02-09T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-09T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=39712"},"modified":"2014-02-09T11:45:06","modified_gmt":"2014-02-09T16:45:06","slug":"a-pop-culture-guilty-pleasure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=39712","title":{"rendered":"A Pop Culture &#8220;Guilty Pleasure&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A comment the other day brought to mind a 1980s TV show I\u2019d not thought about in a while: Magnum PI.<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, the show was pretty campy at times.\u00a0 And yeah, the premise of the show was kinda ridiculous. I can\u2019t say it was great drama, or one of the \u201call-time best\u201d shows.<\/p>\n<p>Still, it was pretty entertaining \u2013 one of those \u201cguilty pleasures\u201d of pop culture. Selleck had the role down to a \u201cT\u201d. And the show definitely had its moments.<\/p>\n<p>It also had one of the all-time great closing scenes of any TV show &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ever<\/span>. That was the closing scene for the two-part first episode of season 3 (the two episodes were originally shown as a 2-hour single show):<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/T7vW1oEKP1k\" height=\"315\" width=\"420\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">If you\u2019re not familiar with the show \u2013 or that particular episode &#8211; the plot of that episode is summarized <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fandango.com\/magnump.i.:didyouseethesunrisepart1_v361366\/plotsummary\">here<\/a> (part 1) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fandango.com\/magnump.i.:didyouseethesunrisepart2_v428704\/plotsummary\">here<\/a> (part 2).\u00a0 The summary unfortunately leaves out details regarding the primary motive for the scene (it involves a cold-blooded murder in a POW camp).\u00a0 If you haven&#8217;t seen that episode, IMO it&#8217;s worth watching.
