Storyteller sends us a link to the Brisbane Times<\/a> which reports that criminals down in Australia are trying to scam the justice system there by claiming to be former members of the military.<\/p>\n

The 51-year-old man from Runcorn in Brisbane\u2019s south was arrested and charged over the September 27 restaurant brawl at Broadbeach, which involved up to 60 Bandidos.<\/p>\n

He faced Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 19 and pleaded guilty to riot charges.<\/p>\n

He allegedly told the court he had served for six years in the Australian Defence Force in Somalia and Bougainville, Papua New Guinea, and as a member of the SAS, in his appeal for a lenient sentence.<\/p>\n

The man was charged on Thursday with attempting to pervert the course of justice and falsely representing to be a returned soldier, after detectives with anti-bikie Taskforce Maxima investigated the claims he made in court.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Strongman competitor Ian Ronald Crowden claimed to be a former military sniper when he faced Southport Magistrates Court last year charged with animal cruelty and obstructing a Customs officer.<\/p>\n

He pleaded guilty to kicking a drugs sniffer dog at the airport and was fined $1000.<\/p>\n

However, the 39-year-old was arrested and charged on Wednesday for falsely representing to be a returned soldier and attempting to pervert the course of justice.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
